The Food

joy

There is comfort in calories and therapy in the little triangle between my stove top, fridge and island. Glad that Thanks' is upon us though I don't have but the holiday off and a backlog of things to do. As I shared il ya deux ans, voici le menu.

Thanks' 2008 chez Burrell

Collard Greens (Although a melanin-forward negress, I've never made them)
Apple Cranberry Cornbread Stuffing
Mashed New Potatoes w/ Fresh Mint
Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Cranberry Brown Soy Butter
Quorn Turk'y Roast (A thousand times "No!" to nasty ass Tofurkey)
Vegan Gravy
Tofu Cheesecake with Shortbread Crust
Moscato-Roasted Pears and Cider-Poached Apples

Paired w/

Corbières Premier Pas Domaine des Deux Anes
Colombelle Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne

Hate to tell the story again and again but even in tryptophan's absence I can get sluggish. Here's hoping some grateful meditation and a Black Friday evening with Gothenburg's finest will coast me through the rest of blessed '08.

The Egrets Are Landing

If there is a hint of the splayed white glove we hear in so many euro soulsters in Little Dragon, I can't tell. I'm shamed it took a July assignment and Moya for me to find them. (Yes, listening to new music has for some time become arduous.) I wish I would have stumbled upon the fresh quartet on my own so that I could turn my flat nose to the ground at all you ne'er heard of thems. But be dears and see them at (Le) Poisson Rouge Black Friday. With "Pushing Daisies" downed, I need something quirky to take flight (other than my peoples).

Made of 'Steem

So this great day in a drizzly day after I'm cursing my personal history. Blame it on the 'book. Those updates invite peeks in on former friend's lives and all the fun they are having. I don't communicate with but a handful of my 363. Mostly, they serve as little e-reminders of my own shit and isolation.

Change is good. I get it. I am ready to be rerouted but even if I were to dump my baggage, I may not be able to cocoa butter away the bruises caused by all those years of haphazard toting . It's not that I wish I was better, there are plenty worse who are living golden, but that I felt better.*

*(I am not depressed. Thanks.)
